Moses Sumney is one of California’s big new talents. The singer-guitarist was born in San Bernardino but moved to Ghana, his parents’ country of origin, as a teenager. Following the release of his EP Mid-City Island in 2014, things happened fast. Pop stars like Solange, Sufjan Stevens, and Erykah Badu took him along on their tours. Last year this led to his first complete studio album Aromanticism that was recorded with a number of top-notch producers. His intense and high voice as well as his layered songs have been especially acclaimed in the international press. The New York Times called it one of the best albums in ages. It’s not for nothing the album took top position on many end-of-year lists. On stage, Sumney is able to give his songs even more warmth and depth with his incredible band.
