Drummer Gerri Jäger is an exceptional and explosive musician. He works on the cutting edge of improvisation, electronica and experimental music. Jäger has adorned his drum kit with an astonishing array of electronics and effects. With his regular brother-in-arms Raphael Vanoli on guitar, he plays music that cheerfully shifts between indie rock and impro punk. Jäger’s band STUG, based in Amsterdam, is a quintet that has no respect for conventions. In 2016, the band played at the October Meeting in Amsterdam and were later invited to appear at North Sea Jazz. Jäger has developed STUG further into an unfathomable collective with the key focus on improvisation. Jäger will be performing at the festival with fellow STUG members singer Sofia Jernberg, clarinetist Joachim Badenhorst, guitarist Raphael Vanoli, and bassist Laurens Smet.
