Their mix of blues, Balkan rhythms, psychedelic pop and jazz makes the music of dynamic trio 3Times7 boundary-busting in every sense. And yet they are always able to keep things refreshing and light. The three young musicians form a fantastically tight whole. The dizzying number of ideas produced by guitarist Jorrit Westerhof is answered by the lightning-fast tempo changes of drummer Aleksandar Škorić, and bassist Marko Curcic weaves a sophisticated Balkan sound around it all. This trio can explode as well as float. If Jimi Hendrix were still alive, he would definitely enjoy this lively band. In 2016, 3Times7 was part of The Pack Project, an initiative of Jazz International Rotterdam, aimed at encouraging young talent. This resulted in collaborations with, among others, Eric Vloeimans and Martin Fondse with whom Westerhof had worked earlier in the Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest. 3times7, who released their debut album Squeeze The Lemon last year, are coming to North Sea Jazz for the first time.
