For over 40 years, Nile Rodgers has been an excellent producer and songwriter. He also still tours with the group which started it all: Chic! The guitarist made his breakthrough with the worldwide hit Le Freak. Together with bassist Bernard Edwards and drummer Tony Thompson, Rodgers formed an irresistible trio. Thanks to his success with Chic, Rodgers was also in demand as a producer and songwriter for big stars like Madonna, David Bowie, Diana Ross, and Duran Duran. After things had quieted down a bit for Rogers in the 1990s, he came back with a bang this past decade. First, he scored a worldwide hit with the song Get Lucky with the French duo Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams, then he was listed as one of the 50 most important producers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. The American has also survived prostate cancer and tours the world almost continuously with Chic! He is currently in the final stages of recording his latest album It’s About Time.
