In the seventies, Earth, Wind & Fire had hit after unforgettable hit: Fantasy, September, Boogie Wonderland, After The Love Has Gone – they’re ingrained in the memory of anyone who ever wore platform heels and flared pants. What makes the band of singer and founder Maurice White so trailblazing is their effortless mix of styles in which pop, soul, funk, disco, and much more, blend together like blood brothers. The extensive lineup is equally striking with at least ten band members. The leading role is played by the blazing horn section and lovely, layered vocals. With this amazing formula, the band from Chicago has been partying on stages all over the world for almost fifty years. White himself is no longer with us; he died in 2016. But the other three original core members – falsetto singer Philip Bailey, percussionist Ralph Johnson, and bassist Verdine White (brother of Maurice) are still feeding the flames with verve.
