As a child, Emeli Sandé dreamed of becoming either a doctor or an artist. While she was studying medicine, music slowly gained the upper hand and the Scottish vocalist chose to pursue a full-time career as a singer. She did so successfully with her debut album Our Version Of Events (2012) reaching no.1 on the British charts and ending up the year's best-selling album. Sandé traveled to Zambia, her father’s homeland, and the sounds of the country strongly influenced her long-awaited second album Long Live The Angels (2016). It was another hit! Sandé has won many prizes, including four prestigious BRIT Awards, and was even awarded an MBE this year for her contribution to music. Following her debut at North Sea Jazz in 2015, Sandé says that this year she is returning with more confidence and experience. Last November she released an EP, Kingdom Coming, and later this year she plans to release a new album.
