Composer and pianist Dave Stapleton is a man of many qualities and musical genres. Bandleader of a post bop formation, composer of classical pieces for string quartets or film scores: the versatile Welshman has it all and does it all. The band Slowly Rolling Camera is a good example of how his creative versatility and flexibility can create magic. The band is from Cardiff and went from a foursome to a trio in 2017. They make an addictive cocktail of ambient music, jazz and lazy trip-hop blended with sultry soul and given extra color by beautiful, cinematographic soundscapes. This summer their third album Juniper will appear, on which Stapleton, drummer Eliott Bennett and producer Deri Roberts are assisted by guitarist Stuart McCallum, bassist Aidan Thorne and saxophonist Nicolas Kummert, and all these will also appear on the North Sea Jazz stage. Immerse yourself completely in this cinematographic fairytale, driven by beats, that on stage especially leaves such a powerful and indelible impression.
