From Adele to D'Angelo and from Robert Glasper to Mary J. Blige, you might have an album at home that features American drummer Chris Dave. Besides his dozens of releases as a sideman, he has been performing with his band The Drumhedz for eight years now. In 2013 the formation released a mix tape on SoundCloud, and last year they finally released their long-awaited Blue Note debut album Chris Dave & The Drumhedz. A record packed with influences from soul, funk, gospel, hip-hop, and jazz. Dave’s grooving percussion is impressively precise and can go from super crisp to incredibly deep. Still, he creates sufficient room for new ideas filled in by over fifty musicians, including members of The Roots and Mint Condition, as well as special guests like Anderson .Paak en Bilal. A hip and cool company.
