Sharon Kovacs became famous as the "wolf lady" with a dark raw voice. As a newcomer she played at major festivals like North Sea Jazz and Lowlands even before the release of her first album Shades Of Black (2015). She also won a 3FM Award and was awarded the European Border Breakers Award at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in 2016. Kovacs sounds like a combination of Amy Winehouse and Shirley Bassey and she has the stage presence of Beth Gibbons (Portishead). She has now left the hype behind and, with a spectacular performance at the famous British Glastonbury Festival, she proved that the rest of the world should watch out for this singer from Eindhoven. Currently, 27-year-old Kovacs is working on her second album (due for release at the end of the year) with a band that has been largely revamped. At North Sea Jazz, her audience can become acquainted with a great deal of new music written by this talented Dutch singer-songwriter.
