The sensational music of The Cinematic Orchestra is virtually impossible to describe in just a few words. For almost 20 years, Jason Swinscoe, the spiritual father of this British group, has been blurring the lines between jazz, neo-classic, soul, hip hop, post rock, easy listening, sample pop, and electronic music. The Cinematic Orchestra's productions invariably start with samples and old vinyl. These are then put into the hands of an ever-changing lineup that always comprises top-class musicians. The group now has eight unique albums to its name, making it the showpiece of leading underground label Ninja Tune. In 2016, the promising new single To Believe was released, on which Swinscoe collaborated with singer Moses Sumney. From imaginative jazz improvisations to creating a smoldering atmosphere, everything The Cinematic Orchestra does is part of an exciting bigger picture. Fans of Radiohead, Lamb, Patrick Watson, and Miles Davis will enjoy hearing this eclectic ensemble.
