In the early nineties, Prince made a major leap forward in what was already a highly successful career: His Royal Badness formed the band that would change his sound forever. The musical experiments and explorations conducted with this new group of musicians would unleash new creative energies in the American superstar. The aptly named New Power Generation (NPG) is the eight-piece band with which Prince recorded the famous album Diamonds And Pearls (1991) that earned him the most hits since Purple Rain (1984). Now, 25 years later, NPG is honoring the late artist in a series of concerts entitled Celebrating Prince. With the exception of drummer Michael Bland, all the original band members will be on stage at North Sea Jazz in a show that pays homage to the virtuosity of the king of Paisley Park and shines the spotlight on his genius and unparalleled originality. An absolute must for fans of Prince, a musical giant and American phenomenon who inspired so many with the gift of his music.
