Brass band Gallowstreet is a 12-piece group that was literally formed on the streets: on the Galgenstraat in Amsterdam to be precise, which immediately explains this band's colorful name as the Dutch word galg means gallow. Since its formation in 2012, however, Gallowstreet has grown from a neighborhood band into a renowned group that performs nationwide. They have played at various festivals, including Into The Great Wide Open, PITCH, Lowlands, Eurosonic/Noorderslag, and the Dour Festival in Belgium. With drums, percussion, and lots of brass they whip up a catchy professional mix of funk, brass, hip hop, Afrobeat and trap, and get every audience on its feet for a true analog dance party. As the title of last year's debut album Battleplan suggests, Gallowstreet plays brass with guts. Imagine, for example, a classic New Orleans brass band on speed. An instrumental celebration that takes you in all directions and during which both band and audience lose themselves completely in the music.
