The Robert Glasper Experiment is one of the most successful cross-over acts on the contemporary jazz scene. Like no other keyboard player Glasper is able to bridge the gap between jazz, hip hop, and soul with his band members Casey Benjamin, Derrick Hodge, and Mark Colenburg. With the albums Black Radio 1 and Black Radio 2 Glasper won two Grammies. On these records he worked with a wealth of artists, including Erykah Badu, Lalah Hathaway, Bilal, and Anthony Hamilton. ArtScience is the group's latest album. It shows why the quartet is able make such lively, challenging and beautiful music: it is a synthesis of jazz, funk, soul, rock, hip hop, blues, disco, electro, and pop. This is the first Experiment album without guest vocalists and each member worked on the compositions. This year Glasper received his third Grammy for the soundtrack of Miles Ahead.
