Dinosaur, the band fronted by trumpeter Laura Jurd, made an impression in 2016 with their debut album Together As One. Although Dinosaur belongs to the new generation of modern jazz groups in England, these young dogs have already been working on a variety of projects for years. Jurd earlier released two albums which she also recorded with her colleagues. She was praised for her wonderful trumpet playing and won various major jazz prices in her home country. That impressive playing can be heard better than ever on Together As One. Jurd's challenging compositions – full of elements from jazz, rock, folk, and electronic music – also caused a stir. Her fellow musicians swing, grind, drive, and push in unpredictable directions, but Jurd makes sure that everything always falls into place. The band's highly acclaimed performance at the London Jazz Festival in 2016 proved that Dinosaur is equally good live. The promising band was the centre of attention at that festival.
