Amsterdam-born drummer Philippe Lemm graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2009 and was then awarded a scholarship to do a master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. While studying in the Netherlands he played with trumpeter Saskia Laroo, pianist Karel Boehlee and guitarist Peter Tiehuis, among others. In New York he formed a trio with fellow students pianist Angelo Di Loreto and bassist Jeff Koch. The group's performance of Di Loreto's original composition Salt Road earned them an ASCAP Jazz Composer Award in 2013. The trio draws inspiration from classical music, jazz, and progressive rock. Their debut album New Amsterdam was released in 2016 and contains a mix of their own compositions and jazz standards. In addition to his trio, Philippe Lemm is also co-founder of the group Life Size and he is working on various musical projects. To date he has played on some 60 CDs.
