The quartet Perch Hen Brock & Rain is synonymous with daring, improvised music. The group’s sound is a clash between and at the same time a combination of two jazz worlds. American drummer Tom Rainey has been in high demand as a session musician for many years. Tenor saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, originally from Stadtlohn in Germany, studied in England and, like Rainey, played a lot on the New York scene. Violinist Ig Henneman and tenor sax player and clarinetist Ab Baars are from the Netherlands. Both have more than proven themselves as bandleaders in the world of improvised music. This wealth of collective experience came together for the first time in a European tour in 2014. To put it mildly, the musical dialogs between the members of Perch Hen Brock & Rain are adventurous and the keywords are passion, technique and imagination.
