In the US, if you want to enjoy beautiful music at the weekend the best place to be is in church. That’s where you can often hear fabulous gospel choirs, like The Jones Family Singers. For two decades the Jones family has been getting churches and festivals swinging with their uplifting songs. They not only sing plenty of gospels, but also include classic soul and R&B in their shows. Due in part to their energetic, most recent studio album The Spirit Speaks (2014) the Jones family has also gained a following outside the church over the past years. For example, they delivered their musical message at the Newport Folk Festival and at Monterey Jazz, and they even spent two weeks touring in Russia. Director Alan Berg was so impressed by their live energy that he made the documentary The Jones Family Will Make A Way. An engaging film but the five sisters, two brothers and their father are most comfortable and at home on stage.
