Joe Bonamassa’s screaming interpretation of classic blues has captivated audiences all over the world for a quarter of a century. Luckily, they never have to wait long to see him because this blues workaholic performs an average of 150 shows a year, and over the last thirteen years has released no fewer than fifteen albumsĀ – with Different Shades Of Blue (2014) reaching no. 8 on the Billboard charts. On his latest album, Blues Of Desperation (2016), Bonamassa once more pushes his boundaries: although he is renowned as a blues virtuoso, the songs on this album are also full of soul, funk and rock influences. Bonamassa’s albums are always highly acclaimed but it is in his live performances that the sparks really fly. As Classic Rock Revisited so aptly put it: “No one on the scene today plays with as much passion, has as much finesse and raw talent as Joe Bonamassa”. At the festival this year, he will pay tribute to his own guitar heroes: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page.
