Something different every time, that is the motto of guitarist John Scofield (1951). In 2013 he garnered attention with his album Überjam Deux, on which he returned to the recipe of jazz funk and fusion that he had already tried out in 2002. This was followed by the album Juice with Medeski, Martin & Wood and Scofield himself. And then came something totally different: Past Present (2015) with his old friend Joe Lovano, among others. At North Sea Jazz you can hear him with another old friend, pianist Brad Mehldau (1970) with whom he recorded the album Works For Me (2000). As well as being an amazing soloist, Mehldau is known in the Netherlands as an outstanding pianist who has brought the art of the piano trio to a higher plane. The much-in-demand drummer (who plays on Bowie's Black Star) Mark Guiliana (1980) completes the trio. New music was composed specially for this unique ensemble – exciting electric jazz is guaranteed!
