The jungle by night is sultry and exciting terrain. You never know what you might encounter behind a tree. It might well be this group of exciting young musicians, brewing an irresistible cocktail of Afrobeat and other world music sounds. Yet Jungle By Night does not hail from exotic places, but quite simply from Amsterdam. Nevertheless, since 2010 they have been causing a sensation on stages all over the globe. In 2011 it was the turn of North Sea Jazz. Five years later, the nine-member company returns with a new album, their fourth already, that they have dubbed The Traveller. A fitting name, because Jungle By Night has seen a lot of the world over the past years: Fuji Rock in Japan, Montreal Jazz and Into the Great Wide Open on Vlieland. Everywhere they go, they add a local touch to their already rich sound that is now filled to overflowing yet remains so very danceable.
