Since their refreshing homages to various artists like Nina Simone, The Wu-Tang Clan, Fela Kuti and Jay-Z The Re:Freshed Orchestra has been on the radar. Their EP Re:Encore from 2012 was picked by major radio stations and it didn't take long before the roaring 16-member funk, soul and hip-hop conglomerate steamed away on practically every Dutch festival stage. The Re:Freshed Orchestra consists of a number of Rotterdam musicians with very diverse musical and cultural backgrounds, but with a shared love of live music. Their performance at North Sea Jazz in 2013 was viewed as one of the highlights of the festival season. The orchestra also adorned the TV-broadcast of the Uitmarkt (the Dutch opening of the cultural season) three times with their music. And now that their long-expected debut album has been released, The Re:Freshed Orchestra is returning to North Sea Jazz this year with a number of special guests.
