PHILIPPE LEVY-STAB
Tight grooves that are set in concrete, but still allow room for jazz-style improvisation and elements from pop, rock, soul and hip hop. And everything played in a way that defies comparison, each adventurous piece flowing naturally into the next. Time and again Snarky Puppy has stunned press and public alike with their contagious jazz fusion. In the Netherlands the American super group of musical prodigy Michael League is a highly respected guest that draws large crowds on all occasions. The collective was first seen at North Sea Jazz in 2014. Various group members, like Bill Laurance and Cory Henry, work on successful solo projects too but they also often release new work as a group. Last January the album Family Dinner - Volume 2 was released, on which the band collaborates with guest vocalists; this spring another ‘pure Snarky Puppy’ album was released, from which the band will perform a number of tracks at North Sea Jazz.
