With his fourth album Hold On! James Hunter debuted on the famous Daptone Records label. The British soul artist worked on the album with Daptone sound architect Gabriel Roth who had also worked on its successful predecessor Minute By Minute (2013). From a young age Hunter was captivated by vintage American soul and R&B. He is able to capture and combine both styles perfectly with his golden, soulful voice and thick grooves. It’s as if Sam Cooke and Wilson Picket have risen from the hereafter. Hunter’s former employer, Van Morrison, once said: “He’s one of the best voices and best-kept secrets in British R&B and soul.” Hunter has already been touring the world for 10 years with his faithful band members. In 2013, The James Hunter Six appeared at the North Sea Jazz Festival and gave a steamy performance, dripping with soul.
