Pianist-composer Jeroen van Vliet (1965) is incredibly busy. He is a sideman with many different groups and undertakes a wide range of projects. He is a member of trumpeter Eric Vloemans’ band Gatecrash, the formation Estafest and the Udo Pannekeet 4tet. He also accompanies singers, including Ineke van Doorn, Kristina Fuchs and Simin Tander. But above all, Van Vliet is known for his lyrical style and the crystal-clear sound he coaxes from the piano. Although he throws himself energetically into all kinds of collaborations, he regards his solo concerts as a love that he constantly rediscovers. Van Vliet demonstrated this in 2014 with his album Wait which he recorded in the famous Rainbow Studio in Oslo. He had also recorded The Poet & Other Tales there back in 2008. “Van Vliet is a master of nuance,” said the jazz press. In 2014 he was awarded the prestigious Buma Boy Edgar Prijs.
