When he was a teenager, Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Joep Pelt traveled to Mississippi to visit his music idols R.L. Burnside and T-Model Ford. In the weeks he spent on the porch with them he learned the principles of the delta blues style of guitar playing. Pelt decided to become a professional musician. He delved more deeply into the roots of the music that so captivated him and his quest took him to Africa and the Caribbean. Fate struck in 2012: while in South Africa Pelt was seriously injured in a road accident in which his wife lost her life. Thanks to the support of family and friends, and with the help of music, he got his life back together again. He had already started writing songs about this difficult period in 2012. The result was the beautiful album Show Me The Way that was released last fall.
