In 1971, a student band from Tuskegee, Alabama was the opening act for the Jackson 5. Their name? The Commodores. Three years later came the first of many, many hits on the Motown label. It was the beginning of a highly successful career in music for Lionel Richie who wrote many hits for the group, including Three Times A Lady, Still and Easy. In the eighties the hits continued for him as a solo artist: Hello, All Night Long, Dancing On The Ceiling… He has sold 100 million albums worldwide – and we’re still counting! Lionel Richie has the capacity to enthrall his audiences time and time again. On stage he is still the easy-going young man from a country town in Alabama. His last album (2012) was a return to Tuskegee. The highly lauded global star had this to say: ‘I am a country boy and proud of it’.
