This summer, around the time the American jazz singer Melody Gardot is playing at North Sea Jazz, she will release her long-awaited new album Currency Of Man. On this first album since 2012 Gardot again works together with hit producer Larry Klein. With this Grammy winner on board, Gardot already scored a mega hit in 2009 with her album My One And Only Thrill. That collaboration begged to be repeated, and this time Gardot and Klein explore the boundaries of jazz, blues and R&B. The singer was inspired most of all by the people she met during her long stay in Los Angeles, a city that has already influenced so many musicians. It is not only her voice that impresses this time, but also the way the songs mare arranged. Gardot flirts with the horns in cinematic compositions that are really made for an exciting live performance.
