Vaudou Game is the spectacular brainchild of West-African musician and composer Peter Solo from Aného Gildji, Togo. The music of his country is highly influenced by voodoo and for this reason consists mainly of mesmerizing percussion and chanting. This sound, that is used in ceremonies, was the one Solo grew up with, and he now completely transforms it using contemporary instruments combined with a large dose of West-African funk and soul from the sixties and seventies. The result, played with Western session musicians, is a completely new genre that Solo calls ‘vaudou game’. Now based in Paris, since last year he has been conquering the Western music world with his sound. And seeing them live is just as exciting as hearing them: the hyperenergetic Solo is a sight to behold, wearing a headdress and several necklaces.
