Take the steamy heat of D’Angelo, add a little of Angie Stone’s vulnerability and honesty, and also a pinch of the colorful, psychedelic madness of George Clinton and, voilá, you have a recipe for the Amsterdam soul sensation Sarah-Jane. She has been singing since she was fourteen and has performed as a backing vocalist with Glennis Grace, Berget Lewis and Sabrina Starke, as well as Rita Marley. After playing the lead in the musical Soul Sisters for many months, she decided to pursue a solo career. Her first single Psychedelic Love appeared in 2014 and at the same time she was crowned Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent. That year she was also the convincing winner of the Amsterdam Popprijs. This past winter Sarah-Jane made a profound impression at the Noorderslag Festival, after which she cemented her reputation with a memorable one-minute performance on the popular TV show De Wereld Draait Door.
