English jazz artist Jamie Cullum has been a regular visitor to Rotterdam ever since his career took off with the album Twentysomething in 2004. Things still haven’t slowed down: eleven years after he was first embraced by audiences at the North Sea Jazz festival, Cullum is busier than ever. Now in his thirties, Cullum currently hosts a show on BBC Radio 2, arranges and produces music, and over the past years he has worked on several documentaries and movies including the acclaimed Gran Torino, directed by Clint Eastwood. Adding it all up, Cullum is an authority on jazz and a prominent figure in the music world. He is presenting his new album Interlude at this year’s North Sea Jazz. The album was recorded live in the studio and on it Cullum rediscovers the roots of the jazz and soul music he so loves. The result: captivating renditions of timeless songs.
