The Codarts & Royal Conservatory Big Band was formed among the best jazz students at Codarts in Rotterdam and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and is conducted by saxophonist John Ruocco. The big bands of both colleges played at North Sea Jazz many times before, both together and apart. The Codarts Big Band performed with internationally noted musicians such as Gerard Presencer, Bobby Sanabria, en Rick Margitza. The Royal Conservatory Big Band was led by renowned composers/conductors such as Bob Brookmeyer, Jim McNeely, and Maria Schneider.
