Appearing on Later… With Jools Holland means your career is taking off. That certainly applies to Chastity Brown for whom the invitation from the highly popular BBC TV show was confirmation of her rise. Earlier, publications including CMT, American Songwriter, The Times and Paste Magazine had hailed the singer-songwriter as a performer to watch. A well-deserved description of Brown, whose mix of styles is virtually impossible to define – indie, roots, soul, rock, blues and country all resonate. Born in Tennessee, Brown played the saxophone and drums in church before she started writing her own songs. In 2006 she moved to Minneapolis. She has recorded four albums and regularly tours across the US and Europe. On stage Brown is definitely not a singer-songwriter who hides behind a guitar, instead she delivers electrifying and completely enveloping performances with her band.
