Hang on to your seats: this will be a free and original musical rollercoaster ride. Drummer and Artist In Residence Han Bennink (1942) will seize his special position at North Sea Jazz this year, to go looking for adventure with young people. Such as composer and pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland (1983), who has played at North Sea Jazz before with the bands Eke and The Ambush Party, and who is known among knowledgeable fans as an inventive, driven and most of all talented musician. Hoogland is an established name on the Amsterdam jazz scene, but he also travels the globe, touring Brazil, Argentina and the rest of Europe. He works with several bands and regularly performs in a duo with Han Bennink. Young trumpeter Peter Evans has been part of the jazz scene in New York since 2003; he knows the jazz (and the classical) world better than most, but mainly works as a free improv musician. This experimental trio will be performing together for the first time.
