The Amsterdam band Bruut! plays highly danceable jazz which enthusiastic fans have described as ‘dirty’. This group of young musicians will definitely cause things to heat up at North Sea Jazz. What the band likes to call ‘super jazz’ is a heady cocktail of jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll, perfectly tailored to getting audiences on their feet. This makes the group equally popular at pop festivals like Lowlands and jazz festivals such as North Sea Jazz. A prominent feature of the band’s sound is the Hammond organ with roaring grooves reminiscent of the sixties. Bruut! can do more than energize audiences: the band also plays slower pieces with mastery. Their new album Mad Pack clearly demonstrates that this group is just as powerful when they take their foot off the accelerator.
