Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock – two giants of jazz. Legendary pianists of great significance to jazz, each with his own glittering career. The pair appeared earlier as a duo at North Sea Jazz: on July 14 1979. This year marks their return as part of the Corea & Hancock 2015 World Tour. Both pianists played in trumpeter Miles Davis’s formations in the sixties, but they have much more than that in common. They both have had adventures with sensational fusion groups like Return to Forever and Headhunters. And what about their fantastic solo careers, neither of which has been limited to jazz but also extends to classical music. Luckily, each has his own distinct identity. Mutual respect abounds: ‘Herbie is a musical phenomenon and a rare human being,’ says Chick Corea (1941). And, according to Hancock (1940): ‘Chick’s talent as a musician is beyond reproach.’
