After starting out in pirate radio, DJ, record collector, producer and label owner Gilles Peterson went to work for the BBC in the late nineties. Peterson is known for eclectic musical selections, focusing on modern jazz mixed with associated music styles. Widely acclaimed as a musical taste-maker, the Sunday Times Style recently named him “the coolest DJ in the world”. His DJ set at North Sea Jazz is based on his new album, released in May: Sonzeira - Brasil Bam Bam Bam, which shows his passion for Brazilian music.
