With his innovative style of composing, improvising and performing, Austrian producer Dorian Concept explores the boundaries as well as the comparisons between analog and digital music. In doing so, he is inspired by styles like hip hop, ambient and jazz music. Concept, always with a laptop and synthesizer, is accompanied by a talent from Dutch soil. Den Bosch-born Jameszoo is cut from the same cloth as his colleague. The DJ-producer, named Mitchell van Dinther by birth, also has a preference for a colorful palette of styles, in which avant-garde jazz, tropical rhythms and dark beats form the basis. The 22-year-old multi-talented artist has worked with Arthur Verocai and Thundercat, and was able to contract the American soul singer Coultrain for his EP Leaf People (2011). At North Sea Jazz, the duo, together with a ‘special guest’, will perform an experimental and especially energetic set, with pounding drums, threatening soundscapes, sharp synth hooks and driving bass sounds.
