Jazz trumpeter Eric Vloeimans is a popular guest at North Sea Jazz. This year he is bringing his new trio along: Oliver’s Cinema – an anagram of his name. After Vloeimans decided to tackle his aversion to the accordion, he found his way to Belgian accordionist Tuur Florizoone. A series of duo concerts was the result. In 2012, Vloeimans added a cello (which is one of his favorite instruments), played by German artist Jörg Brinkmann. They played their first gig in Kersouwe after only two hours of rehearsing. It was such a success that the trio remained intact. Their first album, Oliver’s Cinema, was released in 2013. Each member of the trio contributed original compositions to the album including L’Amour Des Moules by Florizoone, Fellini’s Waltz by Brinkmann and music by Vloeimans from the Dutch movie Majesteit, as well as theme music from the films Rosemary’s Baby and Cinema Paradiso.
