Ian Shaw (1962) is a versatile musician. Not only is he a spectacular jazz vocalist, he is also the famed presenter of
The Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show in which he interviews music celebrities like Al Jarreau, Kenny Garrett, Patti Austin and Van Morrison. He is also a stand-up comedian, producer and composer. Shaw has even acted in a theatre production entitled:
Jerry Springer: The Opera. His greatest talent is, however, as a jazz singer. One of his most notable albums is his tribute to Joni Mitchell:
Drawn To All Things (2006). In 2013, he reprised an old passion by performing with a trio, sometimes with a guest vocalist. It was in that setting that he honored Joni Mitchell. Ian Shaw is performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival with
Sachal Vasandani, a singer from New York with a ‘deep-brewed voice’. Vasandani broke through in 2007 with his album
Eyes Wide Open.
