Ben van den Dungen (soprano and tenor saxophone) can be heard on over seventy CDs. These were usually released under the name of Ben van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet, but in 2013 there was Van den Dungen’s solo album
Ciao City. Now he has developed a taste for it; in May the saxophonist and his quartet visited Madrid to record their latest album
A Night At The Club. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 1988, but had been active on the scene since 1983, with Latin jazz group Nueva Manteca, the Van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet, the group Brand New Orleans and since 1996 in the Louis van Dijk Superband. He is also intrigued by the opportunities world music can bring, in a combination with jazz. Since 2002 he has been busy with the group Tango Extremo that combines tango, jazz, classical and Brazilian music.
