Martin Fondse was born on the Zeeland island of Tholen and singer-songwriter
Lenine in the former Dutch city of Recife, in Brazil. In a wonderfully constructive collaboration, the pair use their show
The Bridge to bring two worlds together. During his career, arranger and composer Fondse has worked with big names like Gregory Porter and Pat Metheny. The collaboration between Lenine and Fondse’s ten-piece orchestra began in the spring of 2013 and resulted in positive press, both nationally and internationally. During performances, the Martin Fondse Orchestra interprets works, mainly written by Lenine, in a way that is all their own. And there is also room for new material. The charismatic Lenine, who won two Latin Grammy Awards in 2005 for his live album
In Cité, sets his repertoire in a new light on
The Bridge.
