The four gentlemen of
The Fresh Cuts – Alexander van Popta, Bas van der Wal, Hugo den Oudsten and Salle de Jonge –
throw jazz, funk and hip hop into a cocktail mixer and the result is absolutely refreshing. The Fresh Cuts are the fiery house band of the North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam where they perform on a regular evening every fortnight: the Friday Night Out. On these evenings, they have already shared the stage with Alain Clark, Ruben Hein, Benjamin Herman, Sabrina Starke and many others. The Fresh Cuts started out as the backing band of
Shirma Rouse, a
soul singer who also knows how to raise the roof. At the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Fresh Cuts and Shirma Rouse are reuniting to deliver a scintillating serving of soul during two dinner concerts at the North Sea Jazz Club that has been relocated specially for the festival. Regular guitarist Bas van der Wal is replaced by Rory Ronde this time.
