After studying saxophone at the Conservatory of Music in Amsterdam,
Hermine Deurloo taught herself to play the chromatic harmonica. Inspired by Toots Thielemans, she developed an intimate and lyrical sound. She now performs in the footsteps of her great idol. Deurloo is much in demand as a guest artist. She has played with the Metropole Orkest, the Willem Breuker Kollektief, Tony Scherr, Han Bennink, Corrie van Binsbergen and Rembrandt Frerichs, among others. You can also hear her on many film soundtracks. Deurloo has played at the North Sea Jazz Festival before with other projects, but this year for the first time she is bringing her own quartet along. She has found the magic formula with Jesse van Ruller on guitar, Tony Overwater on bass and Joshua Samson on percussion. Their album
Glass Fish (2012) was received to high acclaim.
