PHRONESIS, which this international trio has taken as its name, means the ability to decide how to achieve a certain end and the ability to reflect upon and determine good ends. Danish double bassist Jasper Høiby, Swedish drummer Anton Erger and British pianist Ivo Neame chose the band’s name for good reason: the trio’s music is ingenious and complex without ever becoming inaccessible. The goal is simple: to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the refreshing acoustic jazz the band has been playing since 2005.
