Born in Berkeley, California, saxophonist
Joshua Redman developed in a unique way. An intellectual, he graduated in Sociology from Harvard University, but from the mid-1980s he followed his musical heart. His debut album
Joshua Redman was released in 1993. In the years that followed he built up an impressive body of work. Since 2009, alongside recording with his own group, Redman has also been playing with the band James Farm. He also worked as a saxophonist on albums of the likes of Elvin Jones, Joe Lovano and Paul Motion. On his latest album,
Walking Shadows, which was released last year, Redman collaborated with pianist Brad Mehldau (a previous member of Redman’s quartet). The duo focused on a repertoire from the
Great American Songbook, and the album proved to be a huge commercial and artistic success. And now Redman is coming to Rotterdam with his regular group that consists of pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Rueben Rogers and drummer Gregory Hutchinson.
