The story of the Projeto Coisa Fina starts with Moacir Santos, the Brazilian maestro who recorded several albums for Blue Note in the seventies. The great composer became largely forgotten in his homeland after spending many years in the US. And then, an album with interpretations of his work was released in 2011. Like many other Brazilians, saxophonist Daniel Nogueira was captivated by Santos's music. He set up Projeto Coisa Fina to give the arrangements a contemporary feel. He does this with the help of thirteen young musicians. They rework Santos's inventive compositions and Brazilian rhythms into exciting jazz grooves. The revival of the works of Moacir Santos not only gives the world the gift of beautiful arrangements, but also Projeto Coisa Fina with a new generation of Brazilian jazz musicians.
