The Tingvall Trio is an international company with a Swedish pianist (Martin Tingvall), a Cuban bassist (Omar Rodriguez Calvo) and a German drummer (Jürgen Spiegel). Hamburg is the home base of the group, from where they are starting to conquer the world. Leader of the trio is Martin Tingvall, who writes all the compositions. His melodies take you along on an emotional trip that is interrupted at unexpected moments by severe eruptions of energy. Without any trouble Tingvall transforms sheer poetry into pounding party music, but he has also written a cat composition entitled Miau. In 2006 the trio released their first album, Skagerrak. Their international breakthrough came with Vattensage in 2009. The following year the group was elected Best German Jazz Ensemble. In the mean time the trio have played many places in the world, from Cape Town to Zurich and Dubai, but this summer they will be in Rotterdam for the first time.
