A performance by Zapp4 is an experience that will leave you with a big grin on your face and a fresh view of the world. Zapp4 has the lineup of a classic string quartet, but that's where any comparisons immediately end. The jazz band combine their compositions with fantastic improvisations and are able to rock hard on stage. Sometimes they are wild, sometimes mild, but never predictable. For their latest album We Suck Young Blood from 2012, they plundered the Radiohead songbook. Famous songs by the British rock band like We Suck Young Blood and Paranoid Android were arranged in a new way by the quartet and became unmistakably Zapp4's. The group played at the North Sea Jazz Festival back in 2004. Since that time there have been the some developments and lineup changes. These days Zapp4 consists of viola player Oene van Geel - who recently won the VPRO Boy Edgar Prize -, cellist Emile Visser and violinists Jasper le Clerq and Jeffrey Bruinsma.
