Anyone who wants to hear one of the most sought-after and respected drummers these days, does well to circle Chris Dave's name in the festival program. He has been typified as the most dangerous drummer in the world by ?uestlove (The Roots) for good reason. Dangerous, because he is able to re-invent everything you can do with the drums. This exotic approach and the capacity to thrive in every musical setting, whether it is jazz, hip hop or R&B, makes Dave a living legend on the musicscape. He has singlehandedly created a sound that no other drummer can re-create and is a musical beacon for a new generation of drummers. Chances are that those who saw D'Angelo, Bilal, Kenny Garrett, Terrence Blanchard or Robert Glasper, also heard Dave. His latest projects can be heard on Adele's 21 and Maxwell's BLACKsummers' Night. Dave has been a guest at North Sea Jazz many times before. This year is his first edition with his personal line-up, Drumhedz.
