They met during a session with John Lee Hooker and instantly knew they had a lot in common. Yet it took some years before it came to a collaboration between Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite. Although Get Up! will be released on the soul label Stax, it is blues in the broadest sense. On the album, singer-songwriter Harper demonstrates everything from stomping blues rock to serene delta blues with his voice. The same goes for his guitar playing. Musselwhite is one of the most sought-after and celebrated harmonica players of the past decades. He has played with all the great names, from Howlin' Wolf to Muddy Waters. Now he has become a blues veteran himself and, as things are in the genre, only gets better. People saying that these days the blues isn't played right anymore, haven't heard these two gentlemen playing together yet.
